Terms of use

Muslimsk Studentsamfunn (MSS) is a student society at the University of Oslo, organisation number 981 599 039. These terms cover muslimskstudent.no and everything you can do on it. Write to us at post@muslimskstudent.no. How we handle your data is a separate page: the privacy notice.

Membership costs 100 NOK for the academic year. You register and pay on majmio, which is a separate service with its own terms, and which is where your membership actually lives. This site reads your name, email address and whether your membership is current, so it can let you in.

Membership gives you the library, entry to events and a say in how the society is run. It does not renew itself.

Some events are free and some carry a price, which is shown on the event page before you book. Booking holds you a place; it is not a payment. Where there is a price, MSS collects it separately, on the day or through Vipps. This site never asks for a card or an account number and has no way to take one.

When an event is full you can join the waiting list, and we offer places to it as they are given up. A confirmed ticket carries a code we scan at the door. If you cannot come, give the seat up from your ticket page so that someone in the queue can have it.

We may move, change or cancel an event. If we do, we tell everyone who booked, at the address they booked with.

Borrowing is free and open to members. Three books at a time, four weeks each, handed back on a Friday. There are no fees and no fines. If you need longer, tell us and you can have longer.

The books belong to the society and are paid for by donations. Look after them, and tell us if one is lost or damaged rather than saying nothing, so the catalogue stays honest about what is on the shelf.

Gifts are voluntary and go through Vipps, on Vipps’s own pages. We receive the amount and the message you leave, never card or account details. A gift to a named collection is spent on that collection.

Our events are open to anyone who behaves decently towards the people around them. The society’s ethical guidelines apply at everything we run. We may ask someone to leave an event, or close their access here, if those guidelines are broken.

We photograph and film our events, and some of it is published here and on our social media. If you would rather not appear, tell a volunteer on the day or write to post@muslimskstudent.no, and we will keep you out of it, or take down something already published.

There is no password on this site. You sign in through majmio, or by a link sent to your own address, so keep that address to yourself and tell us if you think someone else is reading it. We may suspend access we believe is being misused.

The words, photographs and design here are the society’s own unless they are credited otherwise. Quote us and link to us freely. Ask before republishing a photograph, because the people in it agreed to appear here and not somewhere else.

The society is run by volunteers and so is this site. We keep it accurate and available as best we can, but times, rooms and prices do change, and the event page is always the current version rather than the poster or the email. We are not liable for a loss that follows from the site being wrong or unavailable, beyond what Norwegian law does not let us disclaim.

We update this page when what we do changes. The date above is when it last changed.
