Muslimsk StudentsamfunnKnowledge, faithand community.
Scandinavia's largest Muslim student society at UiO. For three decades, a home for students who carry their faith through academia.
About us
Where you'll findyour people in Oslo.
MSS began in 1995, when a handful of motivated students set out to carve a Muslim presence into campus life. Thirty years later we are Scandinavia's largest Muslim student society, still at the University of Oslo.
We run tajweed classes and our own library, Al-Maktabah, which lends books for free and runs on trust. Through the year there is Scandinavia's foremost Quran competition, community iftars, socials and cabin trips, and the kind of friendships that outlast every exam season.
Whether it's your first week in Oslo or your final year, there's a place for you here.
وَتَعَاوَنُوا عَلَى الْبِرِّ وَالتَّقْوَىٰ

An open letter
A letter from us to you.
السلام عليكم ورحمة الله وبركاته،
Stepping onto campus for the first time can feel overwhelming. So many new faces, so many new impressions.
It's exciting and a little daunting all at once, especially as a young Muslim who doesn't always follow the status quo.
That's why we're here. Muslimsk Studentsamfunn (MSS) was made to be a place of connection and community for Muslim students in Oslo.
We work alongside the university, local communities, and mosques so you always have somewhere to feel safe, at home, and fully yourself — no compromise. We'd love to tell you more in person.
Come find us at our events, at the Jumu'ah prayers we host, in the prayer room, or just chilling by the fountain.
And look forward to Ramadan. It might not beat your mum's cooking or family iftars, but our community iftars, with lectures, activities, and amazing food, are a pretty good runner-up.
Our door is always open, and we can't wait to meet you, in shaa' Allah.
What we do
Where to start.
Most people come for the company first. Cabin trips, iftars, football, a room where you are not the only Muslim. The reciting, the reading and the giving follow from there.
SQC 2025 · Recap
Two minutes inside the hall.
Sound on. Surah Al-Qasas, verses 19–22, recited by Abdellah Najib, winner of our first Scandinavian Quran Competition, SQC 2025. The words and their meaning on screen, and a hall gathered reflecting on the words of Allah.

The board · Since 1995
We came to this university and were met with the best community we could have asked for. All we are doing now is passing that welcome on to the students arriving after us.
Looking back
Previousevents.
We put events up about two weeks before they happen. Follow us on Instagram and you will see the next one first.
