A Treatise on Hijab

And a Compilation of Questions Pertaining to Family Matters

Muhammad ibn Salih al-Uthaymin

Darussalam's English edition of Shaykh Muhammad ibn Salih al-Uthaymin's treatise on hijab, bound together with a compilation of his answers to questions on family matters. The treatise sets out the evidences for the covering from the Qur'an and the Sunnah and the reasoning behind the ruling, arguing that the greatest act of modesty a woman can perform is the covering, because it protects her and keeps her far removed from situations of temptation and suspicion. The second half is a fatwa collection, answering practical questions on marriage, on a woman's dealings with her husband's relatives, and on the conduct of the household. At 156 pages in hardback it is written for a general reader rather than a student of fiqh, which is why the questions sit alongside the treatise rather than in a volume of their own.
