Muslimsk Studensamfunn (MSS), together with Alkhidmat Europe, invites you to our first ever scandinavian Quran Competition in 2025. This historic event brings participants from across Scandinavia to appricate and engage with the Quran.

As Muslims, we are encouraged to compete in goodness, and this competition deepens our connection with the Holy Quran, fosters friendships, and builds community. Join us here in Oslo to make history, acknowledge the Quran’s beauty, and witness remarkable talents from across Scandinavia.

The "Hafidh" category is for competitors up to the age of 35

Prizes will be awarded to the top 3 participants in each category:

#1 Place

First place will receive a 20k NOK giftcard for Umrah

#2 Place

Second place will receive a 15k NOK giftcard to a muslim country

#3 Place

Third place will receive a 10k NOK giftcard to a muslim country

*These are the prizes for the hafidh category. Prizes for the rest of the categories includes Quran retreat trip to the UK, Remarkable paper pro and many more, all of which will be announced in the invitation mail.

JUDGES

We are honored to have the following distinguished judges presiding over the competition:

Imam Is'Haaq Jasat

- United Kingdom

Qari Is’Haaq is the founder of the National Huffadh Association UK (The UK’s largest umbrella body for those who have memorised the Qur’an). He memorised the Qur’an aged 11 at the Quwwatul Islam Masjid in East London.

He has deep passion and love for The Qur’aan and is always involved in organising Qiraa’ah events in London with International Reciters.

Qari Ilyaas Badr

- United Kingdom

Ustadh Ilyaas Badr, is a distinguished Quran educator and Qari from the UK, is renowned for his profound expertise in Quranic memorization and Tajweed.

A global ambassador of Quranic knowledge, he has represented the UK at prestigious international events and taught across numerous countries. He is also celebrated for developing the revolutionary learning tool 'Quran Trace' and for his voice in the internationally acclaimed 'My Salah Mat'.

Shayk Hassan Khalifa

- Egypt

He is a bilingual Quran teacher specializing in the 10 Qira’at and an accomplished Islamic vocalist. Educated in Egypt, including at Al-Azhar and the renowned Masjid of Sheikh Al-Husari, he has obtained multiple Ijazaat (certifications) in diverse Quranic recitation styles and traditional Islamic texts.

His teaching career spans various respected institutions, and he has appeared on several Islamic television channels.

Qari Mikhaeel Mala

- United Kingdom

Qari Mikhaeel Mala is well known for his rendition of the famous nasheed 'Qamarun' and has travelled extensively across the UK and abroad to spread the beautiful message of Islam.

He is heavily involved in humanitarian work helping those who are less fortunate and is also a teacher and reciter of the Qur'an, having studied Qiraa'ah in Egypt with prominent Qur'anic scholars.

Timeline

Here you have an overview over the lead up to the competition

Stage 1

November 4 - December 30:

After registration the participants will be appointed their audition times. The audition process will be overseen by the judges and they will choose which participants that proceed to the next round.

Stage 3

February 15th:

The grand finale. We invite you to our event hall to witness the remarkable talents that are competing in goodness and displaying the blessings bestowed upon them.

Stage 2

January 11th - January 12th

The first public round of the competition begins on January 11th. This time, there will be a livestream available for everyone to watch online across various platforms.

Prayer Facilities

A dedicated prayer area will be available for attendees to pray at their convenience throughout the event.

Ease of transport

The eventhall can easily be reached by train, subway and bus.

Childcare

A separate children's area will be maintained to keep young attendees entertained without disrupting the main event.

Our very own chairman Heval (left) and Imam Is'Haaq (right) have been the driving forces behind bringing this event to Scandinavia.

Imam Is'Haaq has graciously accepted the position as a judge for the event and Heval, together with the rest of MSS and Alkhidmat, will by be making sure the event goes smoothly in shaa Allah

Who do i contact with questions?

Does the Quran competition require me to know the 15 or 5 juz in a specific order?

- No, the Quran competition does not require you to know the 15 or 5 Juz in a specific order. It doesn’t matter which Ajzaa you have memorized, as long as the total memorized amount adds up to 15 or 5 Juz.

Who can participate?

- This event is open for scandinavian males up to the age of 35. Note that the different categories have different age limits.

How is the competition organized and structured?

- The Quran Competition will consist of three rounds, designed to showcase the talents of participants across different age categories. The first round will be a private audition phase, followed by a (streamed) digital competition, and culminating in the grand finale event on February 15.

How much does participation cost?

- Participation is totally free, all you need is the correct intentions.

What do you mean with independent or representative?

- If you wish you can choose to represent a mosque, organisation etc. This makes no practical difference and will not affect your probabilities of progressing.

What do you mean with recitation from mushaf?

- The three first categories are for memorization of the Holy Quran while the last one will purely be for recitation and tajweed skills i.e. reading while looking at the mushaf.
