Scandinavian Quran Competition
Back in Oslo on 30 January 2027. Reciters from across Scandinavia, six categories and a full hall. Free to enter, with feedback from the judges for every reciter.

Six categories, from one juz to the whole Quran. Three go ahead for brothers and three for sisters: Hafidh, the most competitive of 1, 3 and 5 Juz, and the most competitive of 10 and 15 Juz. You rank up to three and compete in the highest that goes ahead.

Recite for the panel.
An organiser checks every entry. Approved entries get an online audition on Zoom, and the judges pick the finalists.
Every reciter is marked out of 100.
One scoresheet, the same for everyone. Each judge scores on their own, and an auditor checks every judge's marks.

The ghunnah on the doubled mīm in أُمَّةٌ was too short.

United KingdomQuran teacher and qari from the UK. He made the "Quran Trace" learning tool and teaches tajweed and memorisation.

OsloQari and Quran teacher in Oslo, known for his teaching of tajweed and memorisation.

The winners are announced and the prizes handed over in the hall on the day. Afterwards we publish the top three in each category.

Abdullah Najib Karouk won the Hafidh category at the first SQC in 2025. Later he recited for Dr Ayman Suwaid, who did not find a single mistake to correct.

Questions people ask us.
Brothers and sisters of any level. You need to live in Norway, Sweden or Denmark, or hold a passport from one of them. There are six categories, each with an age limit on the day of the final. You can be up to 20 for 1 Juz, 23 for 3 Juz, 28 for 5 Juz, 30 for 10 Juz and 15 Juz, and 35 for Hafidh. Under 18s need a parent’s consent on the form.
